Hey guys, so today I will be showing you how to make a coffin backpack/purse. Maybe more of just inspiring you all to make your own! Its very easy and all you need is cardboard, fabric, and glue, and either a handle or some straps for a bag.
The youtube tutorial here shows you how to construct the purse/backpack, in fairly simple steps. Be sure to have quite a bit of cardboard, in case you mess up. The coffin pattern mentioned in the video is not available, so either trace a coffin shape with a ruler, or find an image on google. My pattern ended up looking like this:
I did mine by hand- bad idea. If you suck at drawing straight lines, even with a ruler...I highly recommend finding an online image! Hehe. |
I took a little creative liberty with mine, by adding glow in the dark paint (the wee bat on the front glows in the dark, although my webcam couldnt pick it up), and customizing it how I wanted. You can come up with your own awesome ideas! I used an old necklace for the two spikes and the latch, and had lots of fabric from previous projects. The only thing this project cost me was time, and $2.50 for some poster board!
If you dont have fabric available, try finding an old shirt, or even using a crummy old pillow case or something, or go to a local fabric store and find their remnants section. A very fun project overall, and I am tempted to make another!
